If that doesn\u2019t appeal to you, there are many more relaxing things to do, whether it\u2019s lazing around in the sun, going for a swim or taking part in a quiet game of beach padel (palas) or volleyball.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Those who enjoy exploring nature are also well-catered for;\u00a0<strong>the Baetic Cordillera<\/strong>\u00a0mountain system is located in the south of Spain, offering the highest altitudes in the Iberian Peninsula. These mountains are an attractive feature and we are fortunate that they accentuate and define the beauty of our city. If you enjoy\u00a0<strong>walking<\/strong>, these offer a succession of spectacular landscapes of diminutive virgin bays, abrupt cliff faces or beautiful sandy beaches, bathing your senses in the colours and smells of the Spanish Mediterranean.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">If you are passionate about\u00a0<strong>history<\/strong>, then Cartagena is the right place for you. Many people lived here even before the Carthaginians from Northern Africa founded Qart Hadast, as the city was originally known, in 227 BC. Our city was one of the locations in which the Second Punic War between the Romans and Carthaginians was fought. Traces of this war, and many other important historical events, can be discovered in various corners of this beautiful city, offering a physical testament of a splendid past.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Cartagena may seem like\u00a0<strong>a small city<\/strong>\u00a0to some, but this has its advantages.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">There are no large distances to travel so it\u2019s easy to get to most places on foot. After just a few days you will be able to forget metros, trains and buses. This is an agreeable Mediterranean city, and there is no doubt that you will like it and feel totally safe and secure moving around it. Those who come from small cities or small towns will find Cartagena has all the advantages of any city in that it boasts an<strong>\u00a0extensive cultural offering<\/strong>. There are an innumerable number of bars serving the\u00a0<strong>renowned Spanish tapas<\/strong>, accompanied by a good glass of\u00a0<em><strong>sangr\u00eda<\/strong><\/em>. This is the land of\u00a0<em>caldero<\/em>, a Murcian version of paella, and of the\u00a0<em>asi\u00e1tico<\/em>, a sweet and aromatic coffee.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">These are some of the reasons why, if I were in your shoes, I would choose Cartagena in which to study, or improve, my Spanish, but two more have just occurred to me.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The first is that\u00a0<strong>very few people speak English here<\/strong>, as everyone speaks Spanish, which gives innumerable opportunities to practice the language of Cervantes. The second is for the quality of our work, the quality of our centre and the professionalism of our team,\u00a0<strong>all guaranteed and backed by the prestigious Cervantes Institute and the Cartagena Polytechnic University<\/strong>.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text]<div id=\"ult-carousel-191900153669f5b5f0761f6\" class=\"ult-carousel-wrapper   ult_horizontal\" data-gutter=\"15\" data-rtl=\"false\" ><div class=\"ult-carousel-191773275569f5b5f0761ba \" >[vc_single_image image=&#8221;7870&#8243;
